In order to promote the discipline construction of world economics and strengthen the cooperation and exchange with international scholars and high-level academic journals, the 2019 International Symposium on Financial Openness And Liberalization in Emerging Economies was held in Yingxian Library of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on October 26, which was jointly sponsored by Institute of Global Economics and Finance of College of Business of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and international famous journal JIMF. More than 50 experts and scholars from universities and scientific research institutions in Europe, the United States, Hong Kong and China, as well as teachers and students of our college attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by Associate Professor Ding Haoyuan, assistant dean of College of Business, Shanghai University of Finance and economics.

On behalf of the University, Professor Jin Yuying, director of the scientific research department of Shanghai University of Finance and economics, extended a warm welcome to the guests and spoke highly of the significance of the meeting. In her short speech, Professor Jin focused on the theme of the seminar. She pointed out that financial opening is an important topic in the field of international finance, and it is of great significance to evaluate the achievements of financial opening to China and other emerging market countries. She also hoped that this seminar could contribute to the study of financial opening and inspire guests in relevant fields.

The one-day meeting was very compact, including 11 papers and 9 discussions. Eleven scholars from home and abroad presented their latest research papers respectively. They include Professor Thomas Chaney from Paris Institute of Political Studies, Professor Vincenzo Quadrini from the University of Southern California, Professor Marc Weidenmier from Chapman University, Dr. Ruy Lama and Dr. Zidong an from the International Monetary Fund, Professor HaiChun Ye from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Qing Liu from Tsinghua University, Professor Qin Gou from Central University of Finance and economics, and Assistant Professor Chang Li from East China Normal University, Feng Ling and Wang Zi assistant professor of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. These papers reflect the latest international academic trends, including financial reform, financial deepening, capital flow, stock market, monetary policy, capital control, foreign direct investment, etc.
