Call for papers



中国推动建设开放型经济不仅是自身过去几十年经济转型的强有力“催化剂”,也是全球经济体共同进步的重要“推动力”。当前,世界正处于百年未有之大变局,各种新旧问题与复杂矛盾叠加碰撞。在诸如新冠疫情、俄乌战争、气候变化、通货膨胀、债务、能源和粮食危机等相互关联的挑战中,贸易限制被强化、全球供应链受损,进而损害已经较为脆弱的全球经贸关系。在这一背景下,亟需深入探究中国开放型经济结构的深层次变化。 

为此,由复旦大学世界经济研究所与上海财经大学国际经济合作研究院合办的“全球多重危机下的中国开放型经济”国际研讨会拟定于2024年8月召开,旨在阐明中国经济在当前全球危机下开放的重要特征,并提供相应的洞见和应对策略,以促进我国与世界其他经济体的高质量发展。China Economic Review(CER)是此次会议的支持期刊,评审组将于会后筛选高质量文章入选特刊(Special Issue),主题为“China’s Open Economy under Multiple Crises”。本次会议得到国家自然科学基金(72341008、72373030、72341011、72173082)、教育部人文社科重点研究基地项目(22JJD790014、22JJD790011)和国家社科基金重大项目(23&ZD056)的支持,也是复旦大学世界经济研究所成立60周年的重要活动。



征稿要求

Guest editors:



Fan Haichao: Professor, Institute of World Economy, Fudan University (fan_haichao@fudan.edu.cn). He is currently the associate editor of Economic Modelling, Journal of Economic Surveys, Reivew of International Economics.



Haoyuan Ding: Professor of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Associate Dean of the College of Business, and Vice Dean of the Institute of International Economic Cooperation at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Prof. Ding is the associate editor of the Journal of International Money and Finance and China & World Economy. He is a member of CEPR and the winner of the Pushan Award for Academic Research in International Economics.

Special issue information:

The conference committee cordially invites submissions of both theoretical and empirical work focusing on China’s open economy under a confluence of concurrent crises. Proposed topics include but are not limited to:

  • Supply chain security under multiple crises.

  • International capital flows and financial stability of China under multiple crises.

  • Firm’s performance under trade protectionism.

  • Multilateral agreements and regional cooperation under multiple crises.

  • Change of China’s trade structure under climate emergencies.

  • New forms of environmental trade barrier and their influences under multiple crises.

  • Trade-induced social disparities under multiple crises

Conference submission instructions:

We invite authors to submit completed papers. The paper should be original and have not been published before. Please submit the full paper with an abstract in PDF format to fudansjs@163.com, using the authors’ full names as the filenames of the papers, and enter “Paper Submission for Conference on China's Open Economy under Multiple Crises” as the email subject line. The organizers will select the papers based on the quality of the manuscript. A subset of the conference papers will be invited for submission in the China Economic Review.

The conference will be support by National Natural Science Foundation of China (72341008, 72373030, 72341011, 72173082), Ministry of Education Project of Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Universities in China (22JJD790014, 22JJD790011), and Major Program of National Social Science Foundation of China (23&ZD056). The conference will also be one of the important events of the 60th Anniversary of the Institute of World Economy, Fudan University.

The deadline for paper submission to the conference is June 25, 2024. Conference paper notifications will be made no later than June 28, 2024. The conference will be held in Shanghai, China, and we are unable to offer reimbursement for participants’ expenses.

Journal submission instructions

Once invited to submit to the special issue of the journal, authors should select the article type “VSI: China’s Open Economy under Multiple Crises”. Please submit your manuscript before 31st July 2024. The submission link is: https://www.editorialmanager.com/CHIECO/default.aspx

All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
